1933-1945 - Adaptation or self-assertion: song and chamber music evening with soloists from the SWR Vokalensemble

Price: from 13.00€ to 19.00€

For the third time, klangwerk LIED and the SWR Vokalensemble Stuttgart are collaborating on a song recital with moderation in the Schlossbergsaal of the SWR Studio Freiburg (Kartäuserstr. 45).

Programmatically, the concert on Saturday, October 11 at 6 p.m. will attempt to approach the creation of art during the darkest period of German history: What kind of art could be created at all when art was not free? Which composers remained who were not ostracized, degenerated, exiled or persecuted? What were the themes that they were able to deal with away from censorship and prohibition and in a changing society? And also: How close were some of them to the system and did they even use it to their advantage?

Songs and ensembles by Joseph Haas, Gerhard Frommel, Hermann Reutter, Mark Lothar, Richard Trunk, Julius Weismann, Nico Dostal, Edmund Nick and others will be performed.

The vocal INTERPRETERS of the evening are soloists from the SWR Vokalensemble: Wakako Nakaso and Dorothea Winkel (soprano); Stefanie Blumenschein (alto), Steffen Kruse and Philipp Nicklaus (tenor) and Bernhard Hartmann (baritone). They will be accompanied on the piano by Carl-Martin Buttgereit; the concert will be hosted by Georg Gädker.

TICKETS are available at www.klangwerklied.de and at the specialist music store musicus (Salzstraße 41/43).

The concert is supported by the Verein der Freunde und Förderer des SWR Vokalensembles e.V.
