The Institute for Ethics and Medicine at the University campus Freiburg is hosting the eighth symposium on fundamental questions of being human in medicine on May 8 and 9. The focus will be on the topic of consolation.
When medicine reaches its limits, the topic of comfort comes to the fore: What constitutes comfort? How do we deal with the impulse to comfort? What if a person is inconsolable? These and other questions about consolation will be explored in an interdisciplinary manner.
The symposium is aimed at both experts and the general public.
