Advent concert in the foyer of the university

Students from the singing classes and the Institute for Historical Performance Practice will give their Advent concert in the foyer of the College of Music Freiburg on December 6, 2025. The choir, soloists and chamber orchestra will present dramatic and festive pieces by the English Baroque composer Henry Purcell. The program includes excerpts from the semi-opera "King Arthur" and from the ode "Come Ye Sons of Art", which he wrote for the birthday of Queen Mary II of England. Jean-Christophe Dijoux, Director of the "Institute for Historical Performance Practice", explains how this sounds: "Henry Purcell's works are characterized by harmonic richness, melodic expressiveness and great drama. It is extremely refined music, strong and at the same time very moving, combining the best of his time: British solemnity, French refinement and the fire of Italian violin playing."

Further information about the concert can be found in our press release.
