Watercolor Intensive. In vis-à-vis: Expressionism of the 20th century as a driving movement of modern art.
Wednesday, 15/11/2023 / Waldhof e.V. - Academy for Continuing Education
We deal with the "palette" of selected artists of the 20th century, who founded the so-called Expressionism. This is considered by its emotional coloring and radical formal language as a provocation to the conventional academic style as a pioneer of modern art. Observation, perception and approach to its characteristic color and form world will inspire us to colorful, impulsive and direct color application. Whether wet-on-wet technique or application on dry paper plays no essential role in the loose and yet strictly composed expressive painting style. Decisive is the desire for strong colors and joy in uninhibited work. To go to and -maybe- beyond the limits with what one is familiar with, inspired by role models who did everything to give unconditional pictorial expression to their inner voice. Tracing this attitude and experiencing it pictorially can motivate and inspire us to implement our own motifs in this sense.
