Bach and Handel in a new guise

Free entry

In its program "Bach and Handel in a new guise", the Freiburg baroque ensemble Klangweber once again presents compositions that were not originally composed for recorder, but for other instruments. This time it is two expressive and virtuoso violin sonatas by Bach and Handel that have been adapted for the recorder. The difference in sound and playing technique between the recorder and the violin presents the works in a new guise. The adaptation of works by other instruments was a common practice in the Baroque period and was even announced by composers such as Telemann in prefaces to his compositions. Opposite the sonatas in their "new guise" are solo works for harpsichord and a sonata for recorder and basso continuo by Telemann, which are performed in their original instrumentation. The ensemble will delight you with its captivating playing.

Let yourself be enchanted by the virtuosity and expression of the music as well as the beautiful acoustics and architecture of St. Michael's Chapel!
