Considered pragmatism

Free entry

Studio Gugger | Basel Prof. Harry Gugger Harry Gugger develops his projects carefully and pragmatically. In Anglo-Saxon, this approach corresponds to the idiomatic expression "Make do with what you have". This idiom is often associated with the following quote from Theodore Roosevelt: "Do what you can, with what you have, where you are". Studio Gugger complements this quote with "but be prudent". For Harry Gugger and his team, this means adapting prudently to less than ideal circumstances by seeking and finding creative solutions in order to realize an optimal project with the available resources. Harry Gugger's lecture illustrates the typical approach of his studio by means of planned and realized projects on a variety of scales, from urban development to architectural interventions in historic buildings.
