Berit Glanz: Under a wide sky - reading and conversation with Mirja Riggert

At the beginning of the 20th century, the Breton fisherman Olier cruises off the coast of Iceland with his fleet. His life changes when he meets the young Sólrún in a hospital in the East Fjords. Over a hundred years later, the German geneticist Maris investigates a sheep chimera in the same place and comes to some surprising conclusions.

After the novels "Pixeltänzer" and "Automaton", which explore our digital present, Berit Glanz takes us to the rugged landscapes of the East Fjords with her new novel and once again demonstrates her literary skills. In "Unter weitem Himmel" (Berlin Verlag, 2025), the Reykjavík-based author interweaves the time periods of Icelandic history and explores the question of how cultural exchange shapes identity and the role that love plays in this. The event will be moderated by literary scholar Mirja Riggert.
