Blues-Rock-Night: Lance Lopez / Thorbjørn Risager & The Black Tornado
Lance Lopez / Thorbjørn Risager & The Black Tornado
Thursday, 14/11/2024 / 07:30 PM / Wodan Hall
The evening will be opened by Lance Lopez, who is a permanent fixture on the scene with his rocking Texas guitar. At the age of 14, he was already on stage as a professional musician in the bars and clubs of New Orleans' French Quarter. In the years that followed, he toured the world with Lucky Peterson for three years. He was the opening act on tour with Jeff Beck, Joe Bonamassa, ZZ Top and B.B. King and was honored with the "Blues Band of the Year Award" at the Dallas Music Awards.
For the second part of the evening, Thorbjørn Risager & The Black Tornado, Denmark's leading roots rockers, take to the stage. With their dynamic stage presence and a sound that combines soul, Chicago blues, boogie and rock 'n' roll, they have captivated the crowds over the past 20 years. Thorbjørn's voice, which sounds as if Ray Charles, Van Morrison and Billy Gibbons have joined forces vocally, is the icing on the cake. The multi-award-winning band, which is about to release its eighth studio album, has already opened for Bonnie Raitt and the Tedeschi Trucks Band and worked with legends such as Buddy Guy, Doyle Bramhall II and Robben Ford.
In every sense, Thorbjørn Risager & The Black Tornado are true "road warriors", touring 9 to 10 months a year - something they have never taken for granted. Every concert is a unique experience for them. This band has come a long way. From humble beginnings in Jyllinge harbor and the bars of Copenhagen, they now regularly play to sold-out 1000-seat concert halls in their native Denmark, Sweden, Germany and other European countries. They appear on television and win international awards. And yet Thorbjørn Risager & The Black Tornado have the feeling that they are just getting started.
