New research, e.g. by Borchmeyer, shows what R. Wagner, Th. Mann and R. Steiner have already described: There is a significant trait of Buddhist internalization in Western culture. This is less a content of faith than an attitude of Maya,of turning away from the noise of everyday life and searching for the inner center of Eros, of the will.Treated are: Schopenhauer, Mathilde Wesendonck, Thomas Mann's great Indian novella, Wagner's Tristan II. Act II.
