Bunbury or Being serious is everything - by Oscar Wilde

The two friends Jack and Algernon lead a double life: To escape the clutches of their rigid relatives, one supposedly visits his sick buddy "Bunbury" in the country, the other his depraved brother "Ernst" in the city. Things get tricky when Jack's fiancée Gwendolen decides to marry the fictitious brother and Algernon turns up at Jack's country estate disguised as Ernst in order to seduce his ward Cecily. All this under the strict eyes of Cecily's virginal governess Miss Prism, heiress Augusta and the village priest. But in this crazy game of appearances and reality, even the most respectable people don't have a clean slate...

We relocate Oscar Wilde's sparkling social comedy to the 1950s and show how close eroticism and prudery, freedom and convention have always been.
