Two grand masters at eye level - Haydn and Mozart: they are mentioned in the same breath as a matter of course, but they very rarely appear together on a concert program. Why is there so much skepticism about programs that are simply devoted to these two grand masters of Viennese classical music? Fortunately, the Camerata Salzburg knows exactly how exciting their juxtaposition is. Haydn and Mozart met in real life with reverence and great sympathy. "I tell you before God, as an honest man," Haydn confessed to Leopold Mozart, "your son is the greatest composer I know in person and by name; he has taste, and moreover the greatest compositional science." Mozart, in turn, wrote in a tender tone about the string quartets he dedicated to his fatherly friend: "Al mio caro amico Haydn," and in domestic chamber music they played side by side.

At the Albert concert evening of the Camerata Salzburg, Mozart and Haydn meet at the same young age: Haydn is barely thirty when he takes up employment with Prince Esterházy and composes his "Tageszeiten" symphonies. Mozart's intensive production of violin concertos also coincides with his 30th year. Two young men, bursting with ingenuity, who love to musically amaze their audiences. Star violinist Janine Jansen is happy to engage with Mozart's delight in the striking. The world-renowned Dutchwoman has a keen sense for every abrupt turn, every sudden change of mood and every surprising detail in his concertos, two of which are on the program and framed by Haydn. It goes without saying that she could hardly find a more accomplished partner than the Salzburg Camerata on her stirring and deeply moving journey into the Mozart universe.
