Tirez sur le pianiste I Shoot the pianist - François Truffaut - F 1960

Edouard Saroyan (Charles Aznavour) was once a famous concert pianist. Now he plays the piano night after night in a shabby Parisian bar. He now calls himself Charlie Kohler to put his past behind him. But there are also his three brothers, who are constantly involved in criminal business, and the waitress Léna (Marie Dubois), with whom Charlie falls in love and to whom he confides his story.

With his second feature film, based on the novel "Down There" by David Goodis, Truffaut pays homage to the masterpieces of Hollywood's black series. The film-noir homage draws its power from an explosive montage that consciously accepts film errors and cleverly deconstructs conventional narrative cinema.
