Circlesongs: audible, sonorous democracy

!!! ATTENTION, new date: 23-25.10.2026 (instead of 30.10.-01.11.2026 as stated in the print program) !!! Can you sing democratically? Can singing be democratic? Yes! In the ancient form of so-called Circlesongs. Circlesinging is communal singing, but, unlike in a choir, not the singing of pre-existing pieces of music. In circlesongs, all singers are invited to create music together in a dynamic community process that arises from the moment. This does not mean a vague lack of structure, but the participation of everyone in the creation of musical structures, such as rhythm and melody, on which the improvised music is based. As in democracy, it is about hearing and being heard. It is about exchange, acceptance, further development, the alternation of active involvement and receptivity, taking a break when needed. Everyone, regardless of their background, is welcome to participate or simply listen.
