The latest work by French choreographer Noé Soulier will premiere at the Festival d'Avignon in July 2024 and is therefore still in the midst of creation. With CLOSE UP, the artist and current director of the Centre national de danse contemporaine in Angers builds on earlier works and continues his almost scientific investigation of movement. His focus here is on the attempt to activate the audience's physical memory with movements that aim at absent objects or events and thus suggest more than they show. The choreography is based on improvisations that are filmed and then reconstructed. Accompanied live by a harpsichord, a cello, a viola, a violin and a flute, the dancers explore the unpredictability of their own movements.
