Deciphering the code of the universe
Monday, 16/09/2024 / 05:30 PM - 12:00 AM / Platz der Alten Synagoge (old synagogue square)
Free entry
The Institute of Physics at the University campus Freiburg invites you on a journey of discovery into the world of particle physics as part of the exhibition "The Code of the Universe" from September 16 to 20, 2024.
Dark matter? Higgs particles? What is the universe made of and what are the building blocks of matter? Research in the field of particle physics has been carried out at the European Research Center CERN in Geneva since 1954 - and the University campus Freiburg has been involved from the very beginning.
To mark the 70th anniversary of CERN, the exhibition 'The Code of the Universe' offers a photographic journey of discovery into the fascinating world of particle physics and research at CERN from September 16 to 20, 2024. The exhibition at the old synagogue square is accessible around the clock, with scientists from the University campus Freiburg available to answer questions and discuss the topic every day from 4 pm to 7 pm.
The exhibition will be officially opened on Monday, September 16 at 5:30 p.m. in the presence of representatives of the City of Freiburg and the Rectorate of the University campus Freiburg as well as Prof. Dr. Joachim Mnich, Research Director of CERN.
Three public evening lectures will accompany the exhibition. These will also take a closer look at Freiburg's contributions to research at CERN. Each lecture will last 60 minutes. Afterwards there will be an opportunity for questions and discussion.
