The commander's grandson

The commander's grandson

Kai Höss is the grandson of Rudolf Höss, the infamous commandant of the Auschwitz concentration camp, who was responsible for the cold-blooded, industrialized murder of more than 1.2 million Jews and many others. Despite this dark legacy of his family, Kai has chosen a path of grace, redemption and hope.

Today, Kai is passionate about educating people of all ages - across generations and cultures - about the Holocaust, anti-Semitism, racism and all forms of blind hatred. He is regularly invited to speak at schools, synagogues and churches around the world. There he shares his powerful personal story of change and emphasizes the importance of confronting the darkness of the past so that it never repeats itself.

"My goal and wish is that the knowledge of these terrible events not only remains in the head, but reaches the heart and thus brings about a change in thinking and action." - Kai Höss
