The last man

Book tickets

"Do you know what you'll be tomorrow?" says the opening credits of the movie THE LAST MAN. It is a touching tale about an ageing hotel porter who, with the loss of his job, is in danger of losing respect for himself. But fate has an astonishing twist in store at the end! This feature-length silent film from 1924 is not only truly "silent", but also manages without any words at all, as director Murnau has also dispensed with intertitles. The film is rightly considered a milestone in German film history (not only among cineastes). Günter A. Buchwald, our expert on silent film music, will be conducting the Philharmonic Orchestra, with music by Richard Siedhoff. Live accompaniment by the Freiburg Philharmonic Orchestra
