The German-American Melanie Levensohn, a long-time spokesperson for the World Health Organization (WHO) and successful author, has created a gripping story between a geopolitical thriller and a sensitive family novel with The Morning After the Rain: Johanna and her daughter Elsa have not been close for a long time - Elsa has never gotten over the fact that her mother used to travel a lot for work and had little time for the family. Years later, Johanna inherits her Aunt Toni's house on the Rhine, where she and Elsa used to spend wonderful summers together. When Elsa visits her there, they finally confront the past - and Johanna reveals a serious secret to her daughter. The Morning After the Rain is a moving novel about a woman torn between her passion for her job and the need to be there for her family, about deep-seated pain, guilt and reconciliation - set against a magnificent international backdrop. Melanie Levensohn studied political science and literature in France and Chile and graduated from the Institut d'Études Politiques (Sciences Po) in Paris. From 2001 to 2006, she worked as a spokesperson for the WHO around the world, often in crisis areas. She then worked for many years as a press officer at the World Bank in Washington, D.C. Melanie Levensohn has lived in Switzerland with her family since 2021. Her debut novel Zwischen uns ein ganzes Leben was published in 2018, which has been translated into numerous languages and has become a bestseller in many countries.
