The formula of resistance. How nuclear physicists helped to prevent the Nazi atomic bomb.

The Colloquium politicum opens the winter semester 2025/26 with a book presentation by renowned science journalist Astrid Viciano at the Uniseum (university museum). The event will focus on the work of Freiburg physics professor Wolfgang Gentner (1906-1980) and his efforts to prevent the Nazi atomic bomb. Gentner was a professor at the University campus Freiburg from 1946 to 1958, then at the University of Heidelberg until his retirement in 1974.
