"Es ist das Heil uns kommen her" BWV 9
"Ach Herr, mich armen Sünder" BWV 135

The cantata "Es ist das Heil uns kommen her", composed for the 6th Sunday after Trinity in 1724, charmingly demonstrates the individual solutions Bach was capable of within his chorale repertoire.

The Gospel of Luke is the source for the biblical texts of the church Sunday for which Bach wrote the cantata "Ach Herr, mich armen Sünder". There we hear about the parables of the lost sheep and the lost drachma, which Jesus concludes with the words: "Thus, I tell you, there is joy among the angels of God over one sinner who repents" (Luke 15:10). The sinner's repentance is the theme of the cantata.
