The inhabitants of the Andean city of Huaraz are threatened by a tidal wave. The glaciers are melting due to global warming. This could lead to a devastating tidal wave.

Saúl Luciano Lliuya, an Andean farmer from Huaraz, has therefore sued the German energy company RWE, claiming that it is partly responsible for the climate crisis and thus for the threat to his town.

The ruling in May 2025 was a historic success: for the first time, a German court decided that large emitters can be held liable for climate risks.

Saúl Luciano Lliuya joins us live from Peru. We talk to him about the disappearance of glaciers in the Andes and the climate lawsuit.
