The interface between watercolor and acrylic - from liquid to impasto
Thursday, 13/11/2025 / 03:00 PM / Waldhof e.V. - Academy for Continuing Education
Acrylic paints shine with their absolute versatility, they are true all-rounders. In order to develop their multi-talent, it is important to use good quality, highly pigmented paints. With a little basic knowledge of color theory, you can get by perfectly with fewer color nuances. Depending on your color preferences, you can gradually add to this basic stock and strengthen your own diversity. In this workshop, the complete range of acrylic materials can be explored in terms of processing - highly diluted acrylic paints generate fantastic watercolors, paints mixed with gesso dry matt, almost like gouache, and impasto acrylic paints, possibly also mixed with paste material, create spatula paintings, as we know them from oil painting. The support material can be chosen as varied as the way in which the paints are applied; starting with different types of paper, canvas, painting boards, Aludibond panels through to pieces of natural wood or acrylic glass. The individual painting surfaces can also be combined - there's no such thing as impossible! The focus is on the joy of creativity, regardless of whether the work is figurative or abstract. You can find the list of materials here.
