The many faces of the Neuburg (online picture lecture)

Free entry

In cooperation with VISTAtour and the ARGE Freiburger Stadtbild - As if disappeared from the face of the earth: Not much more remains of the medieval Neuburg than the name of a district between the old town and Herdern. Even the "Zähringer Vorstadt", which was later built there, no longer exists. Nevertheless, its history can be traced back to a whole series of buildings or squares. The illustrated lecture shows where the medieval Neuburg wall ran, where the Tennenbach monastery courtyard and other historic sites were located, and traces the history back to the reconstruction after the Second World War, which in some places still hints at the former splendor of the noble suburb. Along the way, you will learn how the feisty widow Faller kept the city planners of the 19th century in check and hear stories about the legendary inn "zu Amerika", whose successor building still existed until 2015. - You will receive the access data after registration. - Registration required.
