Dominik Hartz at the ZMF 2025
Saturday, 26/07/2025 / 08:30 PM / Festival area at the Mundenhof
After the first sold-out tour in May 2024, things continued briskly. In the fall of 2024, Hartz played acclaimed concerts across Germany. Now the musician, singer, rapper and actor is taking it to the next level. A double EP is followed by the album format, recorded with familiar guests.
YouTube was his window to the world in his youth, he says. Back then, he lived in a small village in Holstein, roughly halfway between his hometown of Lübeck and Kiel. A green nowhere land; the drive to his first big concert in Hamburg takes almost two hours. He is a fan of the Red Hot Chilli Peppers, likes Peter Fox and appreciates the relaxed aura of the Fantastischen Vier when it comes to German-language rap. For him, a cornerstone of the local old school, who even get "props" in one song. Focused, but without foaming at the mouth, he is now tackling the next step in his career.
After his school days in the provinces, which he remembers fondly as an undogmatic nerd, he is drawn to faraway places. Street music in Australia, earning his first fees. Aussie dollars in the hat; a start has been made. The streets of Melbourne give him self-confidence for more. Ed Sheeran wasn't the only one to start out like this.
He already showed his versatility on the double EP "F*CK you". A man who can do many faces. "Originally, my audience found me via Spotify Discovery. This streaming mode only works well when real people are listening to you. That really kicked it in for me!" Live, he has long since conquered a nationwide fanbase. Again with different facets.
It will not only be a colorful, but also a big, eventful year for the new king of relaxed beats. His upcoming lyrics combine everyday life with sophisticated rap culture. Hartz will become the storyteller of his generation, a pop poet of the mid-2020s. Sometimes the beats rattle, sometimes it swings like on vacation. Dominik Hartz stays in the flow, no matter how diverse his tracks are.
