A picture tour through Freiburg districts in 1852 (online picture lecture)

In cooperation with VISTAtour and the ARGE Freiburger Stadtbild - With the "Lerch-Plan" of 1852, Freiburg possesses a first-class source of the city's topography at that time. The plan shows the city in an exciting phase of development: a good one hundred years after Vauban's fortress was demolished, new settlement nuclei had already established themselves outside the old town, which later became city districts. In between, extensive gardens, rural estates and remains of the fortifications have been preserved. The plan created by artist Joseph Wilhelm Lerch also shows parts of the former villages of Wiehre and Herdern even before they became Freiburg suburbs. The lecture directs attention to selected details and little-known stories, and uses current photographs to trace the arc to the present day. - You will receive the access data after registration. - Registration required.
