The sextet GUITARRA A SEIS consists of renowned guitarists from Germany, Switzerland, Poland and Brazil, all of whom work as lecturers at music institutes in Switzerland: Matthias Kläger, Jens Stibal, Harald Stampa, Adam Olenczak, Tobias Krebs and Edmauro de Oliveira.
To interpret their own transcriptions from different eras and styles as well as new original works written for the ensemble, they regularly use a wide range of instruments, including octave, third and bass guitar, requinto and fifth bass guitar.
Their repertoire includes arrangements of Rossini and Ravel (both transcribed for them by Carlo Marchione), J.S. Bach, Bizet, Piazzolla, Ginastera and Zappa as well as original works by Assad, Ourkouzounov and Krebs dedicated to them. Their latest CD was released on the Naxos label in 2022.
The COPLA ensemble also consists of six guitarists and was founded in 1999 by Clarisse and Arnaud Sans in the south of France; a third generation of musicians has since joined them. The sextet offers a rich palette of dynamics and sound colors, their repertoire ranges from traditional music to classical music from the 18th century to the present day, with Spanish, South American and French music in the foreground.
The musicians Clarisse Sans, Arnaud Sans, Martin Vieilly, Hugo Brogniart, Giorgio Albiani and Léonard Chantep all graduated from French conservatories and got to know each other through their training with Alberto Ponce in Paris. They teach at conservatories in Provence / Côte d'Azur. The mixture of their different but complementary personalities contributes to the richness of this ensemble.
