Human metronome, advocate of the work, score dancer or sorceress with conducting baton - numerous
mystifying auxiliary terms come to mind when one tries to describe the figure of the conductor. Despite legend-enshrouded genius biographies and YouTube tutorials, the individual translation of a written notation into physical gestures remains fascinating. Where concentration condenses in performance, much remains hidden from the audience: exchanges of glances, agreements, and Maestra's sound imagination. This is precisely where the commissioned compositions for the ensemble s c o p e hook in: they manipulate the micro-communication between conductor and ensemble, twist the order of 'first we compose, then we conduct' and digest the staging of popular conducting traditions in a multimedia concert program.
