Erich Kästner: Heart, speak up!

"Heart, speak louder!" - a musical-literary portrait of Erich KästnerErich Kästner (1899-1975) is one of the most widely read German-language authors. For once, the focus of the evening is not on his world-famous children's books ("Emil and the Detectives"), but on his life and work, especially his poems, which Ursula Kurze interprets musically and performs in her touching and captivating interpretations: The rather apolitical verses, cheeky, slightly frivolous, sometimes wicked, as well as his often very political texts, uncomfortable, socially critical, mostly left-wing. But they are always entertaining, full of biting humor, described by the poet as "therapy for the soul "The musician Ursula Kurze creates a portrait of the great publicist of the Weimar Republic. She reads from his work, tells stories from the life of the political writer, sings poems in her own settings and plays virtuoso guitar music.

Course director: Kurze, Ursula. Ursula Kurze grew up in Cottbus, where she received her first musical training. She went on to study at the University of Music in Weimar, majoring in concert guitar, and in Leipzig and Freiburg i. Br. in singing and acting. She now lives in Dresden as a guitarist, singer, actress and composer.more at www.ursula-kurze.de
