Nutrition and biodiversity (online lecture)

Online lecture series on the topic of "Biodiversity in our lives" as part of the special program to strengthen biodiversity in Baden-Württemberg. The promotion and conservation of biodiversity on agricultural land costs land, yield or both. Farmers can only do what is economically viable. Promoting biodiversity on farms therefore depends on whether society is prepared to compensate financially for the loss of efficiency. Compensation can be provided in the form of public subsidies or higher food prices. At the same time, agricultural land in Germany is scarce and not sufficient to guarantee our food and feed supply. Further biodiversity promotion is therefore only possible without additional land imports if fewer animal products are consumed and less food is thrown away at the same time. The biodiversity issue is therefore ultimately a social issue. - Registration required.
