The senior theater group die methusalems is returning to Theater Freiburg in autumn 2024! Together with director Sahar Amini, they are adapting the "future novel" ERSTE WAHL by Freiburg author Kathrin Pläcking. It describes a society in which a new pension law is to drastically prevent "over-ageing" in the near future: The renunciation of state assistance such as pensions and health insurance is to be rewarded with a one-off financial settlement. Once these funds have been used up, most people choose to commit state-recommended suicide ... In their project, the methusalems deal with the exclusion of older people, some of whom have dementia, in our society.
