Finn-Ole Heinrich and Hannes Wittmer: Turnips and Rockets - Wild Friday with Music and Fireworks (ages 4 and up)

When the year is as worn out as Bosco's pajamas, a new one is needed. And the Rübe family has a tried-and-tested ritual for New Year's Eve: saddle up Olga the donkey and go bawling through the night. First they play a round of ballalala and throw away everything that absolutely has to stay in the old year. Then it's off into the woods to the elder witches - digging in cookies and lighting a glow. In the latest book by the award-winning artist and publisher couple Dita Zipfel and Finn-Ole Heinrich, an "eclectic New Year's Eve story" (Huckepack, 2023), things are wild and wonderful, complete with drawings for immersion by Tine Schulz.

Finn-Ole Heinrich reads and tells the New Year's Eve story of the turnips. The music is created live: Hannes Wittmer collects and layers, fiddles, tinkers, loops. Quite incidentally, sounds become New Year's Eve music.
