In keeping with tradition, the Camerata Instrumentale Freiburg's end-of-year concert will take place on Saturday, Dec. 28 at 8:15 p.m. in the Kaisersaal of the historical merchants' hall on Münsterplatz. The concert will begin with Antonio Vivaldi's Flute Concerto op. 10 No. 3 (Il Cardellino - the Goldfinch), followed before the interval by one of the few instrumental works by A. E. M. Grétry, the flute concerto in C major, who was highly regarded above all as a French classical opera composer. The crowning finale is the famous flute concerto in E minor by Franz Benda, known as the composer and violinist of the orchestra at the court of Frederick the Great in Sanssouci. A varied addition to the program is the early classical string quartet by Christoph Graupner and the melodious B flat major quintet op. 17 no. 4 by Luigi Boccherini.
All concertos will be performed by soloists. The Camerata Instrumentale Freiburg performs with Frank Michael on flute, Miriam Rudolph and Gudrun Attinger on violins, Ulrike Rüttgardt on viola and Ute Hüffmann on cello.
