Women at university! Women's studies at the University campus Freiburg

As part of the City of Freiburg's International Women's Day 2026 campaign week, the Uniseum (university museum) is once again inviting visitors to a guided tour on the topic of women at university. For centuries, university was a purely male domain. It was not until 1900 that women were able to study in the Grand Duchy of Baden and the first female students in Germany enrolled at the University campus Freiburg. The guided tour with Uniseum guide Johanna Endrullat explains how women came to study - and that not all hurdles were overcome. Women only gradually gained access to all areas of the university over the course of the 20th and 21st centuries.
