Women at war

History is written by the victors - Walter Benjamin already knew that. Wars have been told, painted and cast in bronze by men, but how many women are in the shadows of great monuments? While the production THE WAR HAS NO FEMALE FACE is dedicated to the fighting women and their stories, this lecture will take the perspective of female artists. Today, more and more artists are asking about the history of the defeated, the oppressed and the forgotten. With an investigative look into the past, they try to capture the stories, to break the silence, especially in the current war between Russia and Ukraine. With different means they bring together the past and the present to ask the question about the future of all of us. In this lecture, individual positions of current art will be presented and discussed.
