The festival kicks off with a free concert evening in the Markthalle (market hall) with the Zydeco Playboys, who provide a rousing dance atmosphere with Louisiana sounds, Cajun songs and grooving rhythm & blues. Highlights include the German Blues Challenge, in which the four best German blues bands compete against each other, and the performance by Dede Priest & Johnny Clark's Outlaws, who combine rock, soul, country and blues. On Sunday, the Sean Athens Band will provide energetic blues rock for a "Sunday Morning Blues" with a live morning pint. The "Ladies Night" presents outstanding artists such as Kaz Hawkins, whose powerful voice combines blues, soul, jazz and Celtic influences. The concerts take place in various locations in Freiburg, including the Wodanhalle, Gasthaus Schützen and the Markthalle (market hall), creating an intense festival atmosphere. The program ranges from intimate sessions to large stage performances and offers something for every audience.
