Are we giving up our freedom?

Are we giving up our freedom?

Free entry

The multi-award-winning author Marko Martin has given his latest book, published in summer 2025, the programmatic title "Freiheitsaufgaben" ("Tasks of Freedom").

A shift to the right in the East, despondency in the West. 35 years after reunification, German democracy is at a crossroads: are we facing up to the challenges of freedom or are we giving up our freedom?
Marko Martin, author of numerous short story collections and literary diaries, as well as the two essay portrait collections "Dissidentisches Denken" and "Brauchen wir Ketzer?", looks beyond the horizon of the inner-German debates to great European defenders of freedom such as Manès Sperber and André Glucksmann.

Marko Martin (writer and journalist, Berlin)
