The Greenmotions Film Festival will be opening its doors to you again this year. From November 5 to 9, we invite you to exciting films, discussions and encounters at the Kommunale Kino. Every year we dedicate part of our program to a special question. This year's special theme is: "Closing the loop: living within planetary boundaries". We look forward to showing you films that shed light on how we can move from a linear to a circular way of life that conserves our planet's resources and can thus exist in harmony with our environment. Further information can be found at https://greenmotions-filmfestival.de/de/festivalprogramm/.
This double bill is dedicated to an essential aspect of our special theme of living within planetary boundaries - composting. The heart-warming documentary People at the Heart of Change focuses on a waste prevention and environmental justice project in the South African city of Durban that shows the power of small, local solutions with big impact. Waste pickers, traders, artists, activists and neighbors come together and prove that we can lay the foundation for a fairer world if we just stop long enough and listen to each other.
Ben & bEartha tells the story of passionate composter Ben Bushell of Community Compost, Nelson. Through the inspiring story of Ben and his dedicated composting community, we learn about bEartha, an automated composting machine that is poised to revolutionize small-scale commercial composting. This inspiring film shows a potentially ground-breaking approach to producing compost on an urban scale.
After the screening there will be a discussion about waste management in Freiburg with Veit Cornelis from the ASF.
Information on accessibility: The cinema is accessible via a ramp. The toilets are also accessible with a wheelchair. The movie theater is equipped with an inductive sound system.
