The Greenmotions Film Festival will be opening its doors to you again this year. From November 5 to 9, we invite you to exciting films, discussions and encounters at the Kommunale Kino. Every year we dedicate part of our program to a special question. This year's special theme is: "Closing the loop: living within planetary boundaries". We look forward to showing you films that shed light on how we can move from a linear to a circular way of life that conserves our planet's resources and can thus exist in harmony with our environment. Further information can be found at https://greenmotions-filmfestival.de/de/festivalprogramm/.
Pola Kazak's short film Weeds illustrates the relationship between flowers in our gardens and the plants that surround us. Her film, which she animated with paintings on glass and the use of stop-motion techniques, reflects on man's responsibility to care for his environment.
The feature-length film Roots of Resilience then tells the story of agriculture on the Caribbean island nation of St. Lucia. Against the backdrop of St. Lucia's development from its indigenous roots through European colonization and slavery to the rise and fall of agribusiness, the film introduces the inspiring organization Helen's Daughters. Led by Keithlin Caroo-Afrifa, the organization empowers Caribbean women farmers with innovative projects such as FarmHers markets and rural training programs.
Information on accessibility: The cinema is accessible via a ramp. The toilets are also accessible with a wheelchair. The movie theater is equipped with an inductive sound system.
