Cross-border lighthouse project: Claudio Monteverdi's Marian Vespers

In cooperation with CHŒUR3, the International Choir Academy in the border triangle, the Vokalakademie Freiburg is bringing one of the most famous works in the history of choral music to the stage: the Vespers of Our Lady (SV206) by Claudio Monteverdi. With the musical participation of the Chamber Choir and the Institute for Historical Performance Practice of the College of Music Freiburg as well as students from the Conservatoire de Strasbourg and the HEAR Mulhouse-Strasbourg and other students and professional musicians from the Upper Rhine region, a trinational project ensemble of exceptional quality is being created.

The work will be rehearsed in a week-long rehearsal and encounter phase and performed under the direction of Frank Markowitsch in two concerts in Müllheim (27.9.) and Strasbourg (28.9.).

The Freiburg Research and Teaching Center for Music (FZM) will accompany the project, concert introduction with Prof. Dr. Stefanie Steiner-Grage at 6:30 pm in the church.
