Grether Nach(t)lese

Grether Nach(t)lese

For the 19th Grether Nach(t)lese, for the 19th time authors from the region under the night sky and the silhouette of the Grether chimney. We are returning to our tried-and-tested small inner courtyard, from which a building site drove us away last year. This year's Nach(t)lese will be opened by Freiburg author Sarah Norman (31.07.2025, 20:30). She has just published her first novel, an exciting queer-feminist crime novel set in Freiburg.

Joachim Zelter's new novel "Relay Race" also begins in the Black Forest metropolis. In it, the Freiburg-born author poses the question: "How did we become who we are? Or: How did we not become who we are - or would like to be?" (07.08.2025, 20:30).

We take a literary departure from the city with an author from Basel. Martin R. Dean has written a highly topical novel, "Tabak und Schokolade", whose plot stretches from the Swiss canton of Aargau to Trinidad Tobago. His novel was nominated for the 2024 Swiss Book Prize. In it, racism and post-colonialism are part of his own family history (14.08.2025, 20:30). We are looking forward to this year's Nach(t)lese and hope for great interest and tropical summer evenings.
