In cooperation with VISTAtour and ARGE Freiburger Stadtbild - "Grün kaputt" (Green ruined) was the title of a legendary traveling exhibition in 1983, in which the controversial Bavarian film journalist Dieter Wieland denounced the "Landscapes and Gardens of the Germans" as a declaration of bankruptcy of good taste and presented drastic examples of the concreting and destruction of established townscapes.
42 years later, the assessment is even starker: Road construction and the lack of culture of desolate architecture and open space design have managed to disfigure centuries-old townscapes and landscapes beyond recognition within just a few decades. The lecture provides samples of the banality of German single-family house and front garden idylls, the bleakness of perfectionistically designed streets and open spaces - and our puzzling fear of anything unplanned. - Registration required.
