Strike eight. Ghosts appear - Rosencrantz, Guildenstern and Ophelia look very similar. Horatio doesn't know whether he can trust his eyes, his mind. The ghosts of his dead friends seek contact. Why have they returned? They gently convince Horatio to remember and face up to his mission. After all, Hamlet told him when he was dying to live on and tell his story to those who doubt him. But how to tell it when the world has fallen apart at the seams? The ghosts answer: together. The four of them begin to tell the story: about themselves, about Hamlet and how he lost his connection to himself and to others in his search for agency. Together, Horatio and his friends struggle and play to understand the events: Have they betrayed Hamlet? Did they betray themselves? Could they have acted differently?Past scenes and Hamlet come to life in their play - in constant contact with each other and with us, the audience. Julia Riedler, voted Actress of the Year by Theater heute and winner of the Nestroy Prize, confronts tragedy with vulnerability and connection in her directorial debut and asks: How can one act in the face of a powerless situation?
