Neal Sugarman is the co-founder of the world-famous soul and funk label "Daptone Records" based in Brooklyn NY. As a tenor saxophonist, he founded the retro funk band "Sugarman 3" there in 1996 and later the formation "Dap Kings", which was the backing band for soul legend Sharon Stone for 16 years and later recorded Amy Winehouse's Grammy album "Back to Black". Neal has lived with his family in Zurich for several years, where he runs the "Daptone Records" label and can still be heard as a saxophonist with his "Sugarman 3" line-up at international festivals. In New York, he met the Tel Aviv-based guitarist Ron Magril, whom he has regularly brought into his band as his guitarist of choice ever since. Together with Zurich drummer Claudio Strüby and Hammond Jazz Night host Thomas Bauser, the quartet has recently played several gigs where a Hammond organ-heavy funk, soul and blues program delighted the audience.
