"Handmade in the forest house (WaldHaus) - carved, whittled, braided"

Most of the pieces on display are made by the instructors who run the courses, but some are also made by participants. On display are, for example, wooden spoons, wooden bowls, wooden sculptures, wicker baskets, green wood stools and also printed woodcuts. Selected photos by participants from the photo seminars of recent years are also on display. In the exhibition, visitors can discover what makes the workpieces so appealing and what role wood plays as a material.

The forest house (WaldHaus) in Freiburg offers a wide range of activities that enable people of all ages, even those with no previous experience, to get involved in craftsmanship or art. Participants can discover their dexterity and creativity by carving, sawing, cutting, weaving, folding or printing together. The meditative craftsmanship of working with wood is a counterbalance to the often hectic, digitally dominated everyday life. The special atmosphere of the green wood workshop, where most of these courses take place, also contributes to deceleration and concentration.
