Baritone Michael Borth and pianist Maximilian Langer present a song recital that explores the artistic and symbolic dimensions of eating, drinking, pleasure and seduction.

From the cheerful drinking songs of the 18th century to the decadent nuances of modernism and the ironic refractions of the 20th century, a panorama of chamber music treasures unfolds in which pleasure itself becomes an aesthetic principle. Songs by Ravel, Strauss, Schubert, Wolf, Poulenc and others explore the question of where physical pleasure and spiritual elevation meet - and whether the one is even conceivable without the other.

The evening thus becomes a subtle celebration of the senses, in which the song balances between cult and intoxication, moderation and excess. "Hebe die sparkling Schale gefüllt mit Wein" is both an invitation and a challenge: to listen, to enjoy - and perhaps to toast the insatiable longing that resonates in every note.

The Kaiserstuhl-based baritone Michael Borth is a versatile opera, song and concert singer who, with his versatile voice and subtle lyrics, is now devoting himself to a song recital at klangwerk LIED for the second time. Pianist Maximilian Langer, who lives in Freiburg, is equally active in the classical and experimental fields. The young pianist demonstrates his sensitive, virtuoso playing and his wide range of tonal colors in a variety of recitals, chamber music and solo concerts.
