HERE AND NOW

Hille Perl, a star on the viola da gamba, and Murat Coskun, a world percussionist with the finest finger technique, share concert tours, their own musical projects and many a concert with the Freiburger BarockConsort. Now they can be heard as a duo with their concert program Here and Now. As masters of their craft and well-versed in baroque music and improvisation, the two "passionate musicians" present refreshing interpretations of composers from the Renaissance period in Spain or England and take excursions into the world of Ottoman rhythms and arabesques.
This musical encounter between two unpretentious and cosmopolitan artistic personalities is full of lively enthusiasm as they interpret wild chaconne dances with pulsating frame drum sounds, alternating with yearning songs from Anatolia. Then it is the English melancholy that seems to bring tears to the eyes when played on the viola da gamba.

In a field of tension between notated music and spontaneous improvisation, the duo moves in a unique way, creating fascinating moments of sound.
Despite music from bygone times and distant lands, the listener feels as if they are in the "here and now" with the musicians, experiencing the music as vividly and intensely as it was played and felt at the time - and as unfamiliar as it was probably never heard at the time.
