Historix-Tours: World War, Nazis, Dictatorship - Themed Tour

Book tickets

Historix-Tours is dedicated to National Socialism in Freiburg.

Guided by the question of how it came about in 1933 that a democracy became a dictatorship in just 51 days, we take a look at a few historical aspects. And if you like, you can ponder quietly whether we are at a similar point today - or whether we are living in completely different times.

We tell you why the First World War broke out. What came afterwards. Why so many people shared Hitler's extreme views. How the NSDAP cheated its way to power. How Hitler installed himself as dictator, even though the NSDAP "only" won 33% of the vote in the last free election. And we explore the questions: Is democracy really important? Would all this be possible today? What made people tick then and now?

The period of National Socialism is a dark and very complex topic in Freiburg's history. On this tour, we will shed light on some aspects and hope to inspire people to think for themselves about the period and the prevailing thought patterns. Not interactively, but in a quiet narrative style that leaves room for quiet thoughts.

Not suitable for children/young people under the age of 16.
Meeting point is at the main entrance of St. Martin's Church on Rathausplatz.
