The specialist journal Musica Sacra praises her playing as "deeply grounded in historical performance practice - with a swing that can only be described as perfect." Her repertoire ranges from the 14th to the 21st century and is documented on her CDs Evocations (2017) and Inspirations (2018) on the Pro Organo label.
In addition to her international concert activities, Katelyn Emerson is also a sought-after teacher. She gives master classes and seminars in the fields of organ interpretation, church music, music psychology and empirical music research. A particular focus of her work is on musical ergonomics, i.e. the prevention and rehabilitation of playing-related injuries. She offers practical workshops on this subject in the USA, Great Britain, France and Canada.
Katelyn Emerson studied organ and French at Oberlin College & Conservatory (USA) as well as at the University of Cambridge and the Stuttgart State College of Music and Performing Arts. Further studies took her to the Conservatoire de Toulouse and to Colorado State University in the field of music ergonomics. She has received scholarships from the DAAD and the Fulbright Foundation and is currently working on her doctorate at the University of Cambridge.
