Jane Austen's Emma - a tribute to her 250th birthday

Emma is the most profound of the six novels by Jane Austen, who was born on December 16, 1775. Emma is not about the obvious character flaws of pride and prejudice, the respective strengths of reason and emotion, or that sometimes it is better to be persuaded than to stubbornly follow your own head. Emma's story teaches humility, and she does so humbly. The lecture pays tribute to one of England's best-known and best-loved authors.
