Female composers such as Carla Bley, Esperanza Spalding, Joni Mitchell and Nubya Garcia write outstanding music, but are not (yet) visible in the same way as their male counterparts Mehldau, Monk and Miller. The jazz vocal and jazz piano classes at the College of Music Freiburg have therefore joined forces in the summer semester to present 12 pieces by female composers that could be classics and may soon become so...? They will be joined by guests on bass, drums, saxophone and cello.
